Evan's hospitality was lavish and generous. The company was often exceptional with guests poring in from all walks of life.
Wells was known as a womaniser!
Evan appeared at Marlborough Police Court in 1927 after a police raid on illegal drinking and gaming at the London nightclub Chez Victor. Edward, Prince of Wales was let out from a side exit by the scruff of his neck. The owner, Victor Perosina was later expelled from Britain. Evan was fined. In the Second World War Evan Morgan was court marshaled for offences against the Official Secrets Acts. He was also implicated in the homosexual witch hunt of 1942 that saw over twenty homosexuals being rounded up in Abergavenny, a small Welsh Market town, which at the time was also holding Herr Rudolf Hess in a local mental hospital.
